The Dell Precision 5520 is a pretty awesome business laptop that has the performance you need to get your work done. I'm giving one away! Details are on Twitter and Instagram. If you have any questions about this laptop please feel free to hit me up on discord. https://discord.gg/mattmoniz
To hell with a GTX! Only a amateur would question having a Quadro…
Don't Buy #DELL. It's garbage. I but 3 month ago $800 and it has motherboard problem. They don't fix or replace it. Don't Buy #DELL. #GarbageDEll
Hey Matthew my 5520 CPU is maxing our at 60% when using premiere pro – any thought on how to get it to reach 100%? I’m trying to get this laptop to use it’s full potential but right now it could be faster
i have that laptop with same specs, i recommend this to every one, it's a beast
should i buy it for gaming and adobe, xps 15 is more expensive
Poorly thought out piece of junk. The USB-C port (only docking connection) and Kensington Lock hole are on opposite sides. H series i7 battery life is attrocious. Requires >90w power so cannot be used on an airplane. When EFI password is set and battery has been drained, even when plugged in, you need to re-enter your EFI password after acknowledging your battery is low. Dell USB-C dock is unreliable when connecting/disconnecting. Etc.
I use the Latitude series for the most part. I think the XPS is nice but biodegradability is limited. My 5491 has the 6 core configuration with a dedicated Nvidia gpu. It's a rendering beast. It wasn't much cheaper then going with the Precision 5000 line, but for about the same I got a thunderbolt dock. Very useful. The only downsides is the 1080p screen. It's not bad but it's not 4k and that's ok. My battery life is probably a bit better anyway. Never the less, Dell makes some beautiful devices and they just work. For the most part. lol
great video! For CAD, such as solidworks, would this better or the microsoft surface book 2?
3.5k? i thought pcs were suppose to be lower cost. for that kind of money i'd FOR SURE get a mbp
Je suis le seul français 😂
Would this be good for Professional photography work with Photoshop and Lightroom and several other apps?
Correct color correction is important.
All the I/O ports are extremely impressive.
Please let me know Asap, Cheers
What kind of monitor is that?
Out of curiosity, how is gaming on this laptop?
everybody on yt keeps talking about how every other laptop is better than macbooks but somehow 99% of are either lying or are paid to say so! Because if it was true they would be using THE advertised laptops not macbooks!
Why didn't you cover the new 5530? I can't find any good videos on it? Is the shell any different to the 5520?
such a good presentation
Just take a XPS 15 for this price unless you want a perfect Ubuntu compatibility. In this case the developer edition is perfect because XPS 15 have issues with Linux
I wish they give us LTE option to add…
Is this the 5520 or 5530?
That was a solid review man!! I was actually considering this laptop, I tested the xps 15, it was a solid machine but I needed that quadro card. It was just announced the Lenovo is releasing the P1 at the end of the month, it could be a solid challenger to this xps. Let me know if you have any thoughts or desire on comparing the two.
A lot of people have complained about the price level, although it retails at $3000, the limited anniversary edition featured in the video was available for $2179 usd until the sale ended. Between 2017 and 2018, I was able to get my hands on a new 5520 AE for $1800 with a Christmas 250 dollar discount as well as mr rebates. The nvidia quadro m1200 4GB GDDR5 runs around a GeForce GTX 960, the quad core processor performs as expected as well. 4K is not a necessity, and will drain battery life, however, the crisp images are beautiful to see. I love to see new precision models every year!
So basically…if i get the 7730…you are recommending that i get the quadro card to do video editing with right?? What are your render times like for 10-15min projects for example?
I have the 5510 xeon and it's just amazing!
How do think this laptop fare with an asset dense and high polys 3d project? (Not rendering though, that one goes to the farm), I been thinking to get a mid price workstation laptop since I been moving around more in my work I can't setup my PC everytime I move out (and then there's the issue of spce). thanks!
Just noticed that the two side-by-side monitors aren't color calibrated? Nice and clean laptop though never been a fan of the Dell carbon fiber texture on the keyboard. I wonder the performance of Sketchup, Layout & Lumion on these types of machines.
Awesome laptop. Thanks sir for sharing new features about laptop Dell Preicion 5520 . love it
I don't think anyone should be buying a quadcore in 2018.
Sir can review Dell 7472 (nVidiamx150)
Have you tried it with CAD or Revit at all? I tried the XPS-15, I was a little disappointed with the 1050-Ti so I returned it, battery life and screen were very good, since all of our work PC's have Quadro I was looking at the 5530.
What an interesting video. I'm thinking of replacing my under-utilized desktop with a laptop in my home office (I don't own a business, however).
I wonder what's the difference between this laptop that you showed and the Latitude 5580/5590?
By the way, I'm more used on getting a laptop with a numeric keypad, backlit keyboard and touch screen.
Great till’ I saw the price, I’d rather have a heavier and bigger computer with that price but faster and better
